Joyce M. Sparks, 102, went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, May 5, 2023, at Hospice of Hope Care Center in Maysville.
Joyce was born in Fleming County April 7, 1921, a daughter of the late James C. and Maudie Muse McRoberts. Joyce worked for the Lewis County Public Library, and for First Community Bank in Vanceburg. She was a homemaker and member of Union Baptist Church on Kinney Road.
Survivors include a daughter, Geraldine (Roy) Hylander of Vanceburg; a son, Wendell Sparks of Vanceburg; a brother, Ernie McRoberts of Ashland; a grandson; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Many other relatives and friends also survive who will mourn her passing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie F. Sparks, in 2015; two sisters, Minnie Crawford and Irene Stamm; and four brothers, Clifford McRoberts, Douglas McRoberts, Espie McRoberts, and Jimmy McRoberts.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Gaydos Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Bro. Harry Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in Thomas Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Gaydos Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Randy McCleese, Jack McEldowney, Roy Hylander, Eddie Stamm, and David McRoberts. Honorary pallbearer will be Paul Smith.
