Junior “Elmo” Highfield, 90, of Tollesboro, passed away Sunday morning, September 8, 2019, at Maysville Nursing and Rehabilitation.
He was born March 26, 1929, in Lewis County, a son of the late Pleas and Christine Mackey Highfield.
Elmo was a member of Tollesboro Christian Church and worked for NAPA Auto Parts. He enjoyed loafing at Rip’s Farm Supply, keeping an eye on Tollesboro and spending time with his family.
Elmo is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Larry Highfield of Brooksville, and John and Debbie Highfield of Tollesboro; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and the mother of his children, Ruby Highfield of Germantown. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Gladys Clarine Jefferson Highfield; one daughter, Brenda Kay Highfield; two brothers, Edward Highfield and Carol Highfield; and one sister, Virginia Lincolnfelster.
Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at Tollesboro Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Bro. Layne Wagner officiating. Burial will follow in Tollesboro Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at Tollesboro Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 11918 KY 57 at Tollesboro.
Pallbearers will be Michael Highfield, Jamie Highfield, Tyrome Highfield, Joshua Highfield, Matthew Moore, Ethan Moore, Zachary Highfield, and Blaine Highfield.
