Karen Sue Schenk Butler, 59, of Flemingsburg, passed away peacefully at 12:41 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2020, of cancer at her home with her loving family by her side.
She was born July 19, 1960, in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, a daughter of Naomi Christine Robertson Schenk of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, and the late Harold Schenk.
Karen was formerly of Nevada, and Bucyrus, Ohio, but most recently of Flemingsburg. She enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, going to yard sales and auctions, going to bike meets, collecting brass and oriental items, listening to bluegrass and rock and roll music, and most of all spending time with her family. Karen held numerous jobs in the past, but most recently worked at Fleming County Schools. She was a member of the Pentecostal Tabernacle Church in Oceola, Ohio.
Karen is survived by her husband of 41 years, Alvin Eugene Butler, whom she married on June 2, 1979; one son, Jeremy Butler and his wife, Marsha of Mt. Sterling; one daughter, Jessica Vanichek and her husband, John of Upper Sandusky, Ohio; her grandchildren, Kimberly (Trey) and Danielle (Scotty); and great-grandchildren, Bentley, Braylon, Colton, and Paislee. Her mother, Christine survives in Ohio, along with a bother and a sister. A brother-in-law, Jeff in Kentucky. She is also survived by special friends Rusty and Regina, Mandy and Jason and their kids, Cassidy, Erika, and Tammy, and her daughter, Skyler. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends who will miss her dearly. Karen is also survived by her fur babies, Tiny “Tine Tine”, Pablo “Pabby” and Miff “Miffer” and her new pet, Drafty the Duck.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one son, Jayson Edward Butler, and her in-laws, Noah and Betty Butler.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2020, at Tollesboro Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Bro. Tony Corns officiating. Burial will follow in Smith-Gilliam Cemetery in Lewis County.
Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2020, at Tollesboro Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 11918 KY 57 at Tollesboro.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
