Kay Cooper

Willa Kay Lawson Cooper, 71, of Vanceburg, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth, Ohio.

She was born September 14, 1949, in Greenup County, a daughter of the late Jess and Mary Stapleton Lawson.

Kay was of the Christian faith. She was a retired nurse and a bookkeeper for Auctions by Cooper in Vanceburg. She enjoyed going out to eat, reading, and most of all, spending time with her husband and grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Ezra “Tad” Cooper; two sons, Stacy (Lori) Cooper of Morehead and Kevin Cooper of Chatfield, Ohio; one brother, Tony Lawson of Galion, Ohio; two grandchildren, Katie Cooper and Mary Staton; and three great-grandchildren, Wiley Waterbeck, Karlie Staton and Averie Staton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ed Lawson and Fred Lawson, and one sister, Geneva Reese.

At Kay’s request, there will be no service. Burial will be in Frost Cemetery at South Shore.

Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg is caring for all arrangements.
