Kimberly Dawn McGlone Erwin, 53, of Vanceburg, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2023.
She was born at Portsmouth, Ohio, on December 22, 1969, a daughter of Betty Evans McGlone of Vanceburg and the late Nathan McGlone.
Kim was an avid reader and loved to read and listen to books. She was a master of English and English Literature, a lover of the classics, such as Shakespeare, and also contemporary authors, such as Stephen King. She adored her students and teaching was her passion and a refuge for the students who others overlooked.
Her strong work ethic and nurturing spirit was learned from her mom. Her captivating smile and laugh came from her father. Kim was a devoted wife to her husband, John, whom she married April 14, 1990. Their passion and love for one another was unwavering. She enjoyed “girl days” at the nail salon with her girls and showering the grandchildren with gifts and love. She strived to make her family proud and did just that, She leaves behind many family members and friends who loved her, including her in-laws who treasured her.
In addition to her mother, survivors include her loving husband of 33 years, John Erwin; two daughters, Kayla (David) Tackett and Kasey (Jeff) Mulkey of Garrison; one sister, Phyllis Williams of Vanceburg; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roger and Wilma Erwin; and five grandchildren, Kadie, Karrie, Kenzie, David, and Abby. Many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Kathy Elliott.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 103 Dudley Avenue at Garrison, with Bro. Terry Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Skidmore Cemetery at Garrison.
Friends may visit after 11:00 a.m. Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel at Garrison.
Pallbearers will be Roger Erwin, Jeremy Williams, David Tackett, Jeff Mulkey, Karter Gilliam, and Rylee Gilliam.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kadie Tackett, Karrie Tackett, Kenzie Tackett, David Tackett, and Abby Mulkey.
