Rickey Lee “Kool-Aid” Underwood, 68, of Garrison, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the Care Center at Kenton Pointe in Maysville. He had fought a courageous 10-year battle with cancer.
Kool-Aid, as he was known by family and close friends, was born in Lewis County on February 17, 1956, a son of the late Leonard Howard and Martha Fay Campbell Underwood. He was a former trucker and a veteran of the United States Army, in which he so proudly served.
Left to cherish Rickey’s memories are a son, Rickey Lee Underwood Jr. and his wife Jennifer; a granddaughter, Christina; his companion of 20 years, Noraetta Bloomfield and her sons; two sisters, Linda (Chauncey) Lewis and Lora Dunigan; a brother, John Underwood; three nieces, Melinda (Rodney) McGlone, Brooke (Mason) Mummert, and Jennifer (Hays) Tackett; a nephew Thomas Lee Riffe; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. His camp family and many friends also survive who will mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Ivan Leonard, Joyce Ann, and Joann, and a nephew, Elden Lee Riffe Jr.
At Kool Aid’s request, there will be no service at this time. A celebration of life will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.
Gaydos Funeral Home in Vanceburg has been entrusted with taking care of the arrangements for Rickey Lee “Kool Aid” Underwood.
