Larry Gene Hull, a lifelong resident of the Tollesboro community, died Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at his home with family after a battle with cancer.
He was born September 14, 1943, a son of the late Barbour Hull and Helen Turner Hull.
He was a member of Tollesboro United Methodist Church, having served as a Sunday school teacher and chairman of the board. He attended CrossPointe Church in Tollesboro.
He was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and retired from teaching after 34 years. He cared for his students and had very strong opinions about what he felt was best for their education. He was also a farmer and gave back to his community by serving on various Lewis County Agriculture Committees.
He loved the simple things in life: watching calves run across the pasture field, dogs of all kinds, high school basketball, old cars and trucks (if they were Fords), telling a good joke, and riding in a convertible on country roads with “Stell”.
He leaves his wife of 51 years, the former Stellabelle Dodge; three children, Heath Hull (Melinda), Heather Williamson (David), and Ryan Hull (Elizabeth); the loves of his life, Ashton Rae Hull, a student at Thomas More College, and Reece Braden Hull, a student at Mason County Middle School; a brother, Phillip Hull (Carol); and a brother-in-law, James Dodge (Suzie).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Barbara Porter Dodge and Earl Ray Dodge.
Pallbearers will be Terry Thomas, Dwight Malone, Shane Wallingford, Jim Meadows, Mike Bradford, Daniel Thomas, Bob McCann, and Rick Lanthorn.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Tollesboro Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 11918 KY 57 at Tollesboro. The service will be conducted by his lifelong friend, Rev. Mike Rice. Burial will be in Mayslick Cemetery.
