Larry Lumpkins

Larry Lowell Lumpkins, 86, of Vanceburg, passed away Monday, December 26, 2022, at his home.

Larry was born at Dorton on November 24, 1936, a son of the late Roy Lumpkins and Rhoda Mullins Lumpkins. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Burgess Lumpkins; his children, Larry Joe (Clara) Lumpkins and Terry Lee (Sue) Lumpkins of Garrison, Sherman (Cindy) Sadler of Crowley, Texas, Cindy (Wayne) Watkins of South Shore, and Sue Anne (James) Silvey, Michael Lumpkins, Helen Nicole (Isacc Farrell) Lumpkins, and Kaleb Lumpkins of Vanceburg; one sister, Dorothy Bryant of Richmond; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members also survive who will mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Donald Lumpkins; a daughter, Sonya Lumpkins Prewitt; three brothers, Verlin Lumpkins, Bobby Lumpkins, and Conley Lumpkins; and four sisters, Clotine Wente, Shirley Gilispie, Ruth Brandenburg, and Pauline Lumpkins.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2022, at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore with Minister Danny Bentley and Larry Carrington officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens at Black Oak.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2022, and one hour prior to services Friday.
