Leon Mosley

Leonald “Leon” O’Dell Mosley, 70, of Willard, Ohio, passed away Friday, December 17, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Willard.

He was born in Lewis County on February 19, 1951, a son of the late Russell and Eva Stone Mosley.

Leon was a logger and liked to cook soup beans, vegetable soup, and chili for his friends and family. He made deer jerky and was well known for his deerburgers. He welcomed loved ones and friends into his home and would tell stories and jokes. He liked to talk about hunting, fishing, and trucks. He liked to be outside and was an avid gun owner and collector. He would often talk to his children about the Lord. He lived by the Golden Rule, “To love your neighbor as yourself.”

Leon was a kind man who would do what he thought was right. He liked nature as well. When he was a younger man, you would often see him heading to the woods or fishing hole. He liked to listen and watch birds at state parks. Many summers the family and extended family would pack up and load the camper and head to the lake for the yearly family get-together. Mr. Mosley often drove the family on the pontoon where they would pick a spot to fish and swim. Leon enjoyed working on trucks and cars. He had many trades. Later in life he began making birdhouses. He liked to watch baseball, the Cincinnati Reds was his team. He also was a UK fan. He enjoyed talking with his brothers on the CB, his handle and was Skeeter.

He is survived by one son, Neil (Heather) Mosley of Bucyrus, Ohio; four daughters, Tonya Mosley of Mansfield, Ohio, Amanda (Jose) Mosley of Willard, Ohio, Jannette (Johnny) Bush of Republic, Ohio, and Leannza Mosley of Attica, Ohio; two sisters, Kay (Elwood) Cooper of Garrison and Linda (Johnny) Cook of Vanceburg; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Leon was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah Murrell Mosley, and his second wife, Janett Murrell Mosley; six brothers, Russell, Don, James, Roger, Ricky, and Charles Mosley; two sisters, Geneva Mosley Sword and Virginia Mosley Bevens; and many nephews and nieces.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel at Garrison with Bro. Tim Underwood officiating. Burial will follow in Skidmore Cemetery at Garrison.

Friends and family may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 27, 2021, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 103 Dudley Avenue at Garrison.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.
