Law enforcement officers were again honored with a ceremony, this time hosted by Vanceburg Christian Church, to wrap up a monthlong show of appreciation for our local protectors.
Lewis County Judge Executive Todd Ruckel officially proclaimed August as Law Enforcement Officer Appreciation Month in Lewis County at a courthouse ceremony on July 27.
Since that time the local LEOs have received letters of appreciation, gifts, artwork from students, baked items and words of support.
The latest ceremony at Vanceburg Christian Church was attended by more than 150 community members and law enforcement officers from the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department, Vanceburg Police Department and Kentucky State Police.
VCC Pastor Tom Cox welcomed those in attendance and recognized officers for their efforts in keeping our communities safe and upholding the law.
There’s a lot more to this story. It can be accessed by our digital and e-edition subscribers, and will appear in this week’s printed edition of The Herald.
Digital subscribers will see additional photos and links to a video of the ceremony as well as a slide show honoring local officers.
