Lewis Fiscal Court approves closing of Greenlawn Bridge

Magistrates adopted a resolution to close a bridge on Greenlawn Road during the January meeting.

The bridge had earlier been declared insufficient by state inspectors and steps have been taken to notify the public and property owners in the area.

A public hearing on the proposed closing was scheduled in conjunction with the meeting with no one appearing to comment.

There are no residences served by the bridge and county maintenance will end at the approach to the bridge which is located 0.48 mile from the AA Highway.

Sheriff Johnny Bivens said he had received some calls concerning the duties of constables in the county.
