Lillian Agnes Secrest, 99, of Tollesboro, died Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at Maysville Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility.
Mrs. Secrest was the widow of Marion Ingram Secrest who died in 1999. She was born in Covington May 11, 1917, the daughter of the late William Wesley Adams and Frances McClain Adams.
She was retired from the Lewis County School System where she served as a cook. Mrs. Secrest was a member of Tollesboro Christian Church and a former member of Concord Christian Church where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years.
Mrs. Secrest was an avid gardener and loved to work out in her yard. She was an animal enthusiast. She loved to read and study her Bible and teach others her wisdom and knowledge of the Bible.
Mrs. Secrest was well known by many in the community and never met a stranger. She will be greatly missed by all.
Survivors include her son, Eldon Secrest (Martha) of Ashland; her daughter, Mary Secrest of Louisville; two grandchildren, Susan Campbell (Dave) and Anne O’Leary (Sean); six great-grandchildren, Jacob Campbell, Adam Campbell, Evan O’Leary, Madeline O’Leary, Gillian O’Leary and Caroline Campbell; one great-great-grandchild, Jayden Campbell; a brother, William Armon Adams; and three special friends, Helen Brewer, Gary McClurg and Kirby Wright.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2016, at Tollesboro Christian Church with Pastor Layne Waggoner officiating.
Entombment will be in Hillcrest Garden of Memories. Pallbearers will be Kirby Wright, Gary McClurg, Dale Corns and Steve Pedersen.
Visitation will be at Tollesboro Christian Church from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday and from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour Saturday.
