Lillian Stamm

Lillian Doris Watson Stamm, 94, departed this life on February 8, 2024, at the home of her daughter, Vicky, in Alabama, where she resided the past 11 months.  

Doris was born on May 17, 1929, in Petersville, Lewis County, the second of eight children born to Hubert and Rachel Kegley Watson. She was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church.

Mrs. Stamm, a devoted wife and homemaker, was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, John C. Stamm, who died in 2003; and two sons, Monte and Michael.

 She was also preceded in death by her siblings Vivian Lykins, Frank Watson, Earl Watson, Geri Cole Dewey, and Kenneth Watson.

Left to cherish Doris’s memories are daughters, Connie Shaw (Jim) of Mt. Sterling, Vicky Joiner (Ray) of Columbiana, Alabama, and Sherry Wehrle (John) of Lexington; a son, Randy Stamm (Lisa) of Vanceburg; a sister, Alma Gilbert of Vanceburg; and a brother, Wendell Watson of Clinton, Virginia.

Her descendants include 13 grandchildren: Brian Stamm, Phillip Stamm, Chad Stamm, Chris Shaw, Nick Shaw, Ashley Shaw Mineer, Timothy Joiner, Matthew Joiner, Sarah Joiner Glynn, Taylor Wehrle, Evan Wehrle, Kelli Stamm Rouse, and Clay Stamm. She also leaves 26 great-grandchildren, with the 27th due in May.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 13, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Gaydos Funeral Home, 159 Second Street in Vanceburg.

Services will be Tuesday February 13, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Chris Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in Esham Cemetery at Petersville.

Pallbearers for Doris Stamm will be her grandchildren.
