Linda Carolyn Hester (née Cooper), 78, of Vanceburg, entered into God’s Kingdom Sunday, May 7, 2023, at her home following an extended illness.
She was born in Lewis County on May 2, 1945, a daughter of the late Mildred Marie Collins and Arthur Raymond Cooper.
She loved her family dearly and enjoyed cooking and homemaking. After 21 years of marriage, she lost the love of her life, James “Jim” Hester on May 9, 2005.
Survivors include a son, Jeffery Charles Sapp of Vanceburg; a stepdaughter, Melissa (George) Gilliam of Vanceburg; a stepson, Daniel (Tara) Hester of Wallingford; six sisters, Connie (Arlen) Butler and Brenda (Don) Fogleman of Vanceburg, Betty (Tony) Francisco of Circleville, Ohio, Sharon (Bill) Hause of Brooksville, Sandy Rigdon (Cecil Woods) of South Shore, and Beverly King of Port St. Lucie, Florida; and several grandchildren with one special grandson, David Allen Smith of Simpsonville. Linda has numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will also mourn her passing.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Shauna Marie Sapp; a grandson, Nathan Wade Stone; two sisters, Nella Mae (Deanie) Ruggles and Bonnie (Doug) Pugh; and a brother, Arthur Ray “Bud” Cooper.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 12, 2023, at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg, with Pastor Jerry Blevins and Mike Cooper honoring and celebrating Linda’s life. Interment will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery at Ribolt.
Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2023, and after 9:00 a.m. Friday, May 12, 2023, at Dickerson Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Deanie Ruggles, Arlen Butler, Bill Hause, Tony Francisco, Don Fogleman, and Cecil Woods.
