Linda Stevens

Linda Wyoma “Omie” Hall Stevens, 79, of Emerson, went to be with the Lord on Friday morning, December 22, 2023, at her home. She was surrounded by her loving family.

She was born May 25, 1944, in Carter County, a daughter of the late Wade Hall and Leotia Greenhill Hall.

Survivors include  two daughters, Tammy (Denny) Conley and Jeanie (Jim) Clary of Emerson; a son, Lefty “Butch” (Becky) Stevens; three granddaughters, Nichole Conley, Samantha (Hunter) Richmond, and Rebecca Stevens; four grandsons, Nathan (Lindsey) Conley, Denny Conley Jr., Samuel (Michaela) Stevens, and Ryan Conley; five great-grandchildren, Talynn, Gage, Dakota, Kaden and Bentley; a very special niece, Sabrina Hall, who she helped raise; and four very special people who called her daily, Anita, Linda, Penny, and Mary. Many other family members and friends also survive who will miss her.

In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Sammie Stevens; one son, Stoney Wayne Stevens; two sisters, Ollie May Hall and Ethal Oswalt; three brothers, Bill Hall, George Hall, and Daniel Hall; and a lifelong friend, Loretta McGlone.

Linda was a member of Old Trace Community Church and served her Lord faithfully for over 50 years. She was a prayer warrior for all in need and loved everyone with her whole heart. She enjoyed going to church, singing for the Lord, and praising His name. She was the most loving and caring daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend anyone could have asked for. Her love was unconditional, sincere, and neverending.

Her greatest treasure on earth was her family. When raising her children, she proudly cooked on a wood stove preparing a breakfast fit for a king before she woke them, then she went to the fields and worked with Sam until time to go home and get supper ready before the kids returned from school. When the grandkids came along, she loved to rock them to sleep on her lap, sometimes three at a time. As they grew, she would swing them on the front porch and sing them to sleep on the swing.

Linda loved to feed people. She fed anyone and everyone who entered her home. She fed nieces, nephews, friends, and other loved ones too numerous to count. She enjoyed having big family meals, gathering in a circle, and giving thanks for all our blessings. Her favorite meal to cook, and almost everyone’s favorite meal to eat, was her homemade biscuits and gravy. She always wanted to make Butch the biggest biscuit of all and would not let the girls have it just to get a laugh.

There are no words that could ever tell of her endless love and faith. She could never know how much she meant to everyone who knew her. Until the very end, she wanted her family to know she loved them, she was ready to go home and be with the Lord, and she wanted them to join her one day. She will be forever missed and her love and faith will never be forgotten.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, December 24, 2023, at Globe Funeral Chapel, 172277 West US Hwy 60 at Olive Hill, with Bro. Ronnie Riggs and Bro. Monroe Craig officiating. Burial will follow in Stevens Cemetery at Emerson.
