Lorna Kaye Brooks Sapp, 80, of Maysville, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 11, 2022, at the Care Center at Kenton Pointe in Maysville. She was surrounded by family.
Lorna was born at Garrison on June 25, 1941, a daughter of Lorin and Trula Brooks. The oldest of five siblings, she was a natural leader.
Lorna always had a love of learning. She graduated from Morehead State University having earned her Bachelor of Arts in elementary education, Master of Arts in administration, and Rank I. Her true passions were classroom teaching and loving children. She spent 39 years in education having served as both teacher and principal. Upon retirement, she enjoyed working for Comprehend Services, making a difference for children and families as a mental health specialist.
Lorna Kaye married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth Sapp, on May 31, 1959. For 63 years the two were each other’s lifelong companion and friend. They were blessed with two children, Kenny and Karen.
She was an avid reader and an active member in many organizations throughout the years. Her favorites included the Mason County Homemakers Association, Kentucky Teachers Association, Phi Delta Kappa, and Willing Hands ladies group of the Plumville Church of Christ, where she was a 50-year member.
Lorna Kaye is survived by her husband Kenneth; a son, Kenny (Sherri) Sapp of Maysville; a daughter, Karen (Allen) Feldhaus of Richmond; five grandchildren, Kayla (Andrew) Pfeffer of Maysville, Allie Feldhaus of Louisville, Ashton Feldhaus of St. Pete, Florida, Kyler (Victoria) Sapp of Maysville, and Addison Feldhaus of Tampa, Florida; three great-grandchildren, Annslee Grace Pfeffer, Maddox Lane Pfeffer, and Josie Kate Sapp; two sisters, Emma Jane Flinders of Mt. Sterling and Carolyn Ruth of Batavia, Ohio; and one brother, Richard (Karen) Brooks of Maysville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lorin S. Brooks and Trula Flinders Brooks, and a sister, Marilyn Brooks Armstrong.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2022, at Tollesboro Funeral Home and Cremation Services with burial to follow in Black Oak Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at Tollesboro Funeral Home at Cremation Services.
