Lucille Irene Burton, 75, of Circleville, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Brown Memorial Home in Circleville after an extended illness. Her loving family was at her side.
Lucille was born March 7, 1948, in Portsmouth, Ohio, a daughter of the late Chester Arnold and Edna Roberta Gifford Lancaster.
Lucille enjoyed rock hunting and collecting arrowheads. She was a nursing graduate of Shawnee State University in 1989 and had worked as a registered nurse at Southern Ohio Medical Center and Hempstead Manor in Portsmouth, Ohio. Her favorite hobby was her grandchildren. Lucille was a mother to everyone she met. She was of the Christian faith.
Left to cherish Lucille’s memories are two daughters, PollyAnna Burton and her husband, David Kerecman, of Orient, Ohio, and Melissa Burton of San Antonio, Texas; a son, Benjamin (Jennifer) Burton of Hilliard, Ohio; a sister, Edith Taulbee of Colorado Springs, Colorado; seven grandchildren, Brandon Liles, Jay Ryan (Haly) Pitts, Seth Watkins, Antonia Maerker, Abigail Maerker, Alexander Burton, and Oliver Burton; and two great-grandchildren, Brayden Liles and Kylie Liles. Several nieces and nephews also survive who will mourn her passing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Ray Burton in 1993; three sisters, Edna Lewis, Janet Thayer, and Carrol Lancaster; and three brothers, Ernie Lancaster, Herbert Lancaster, and James Lancaster.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 15, 2024, in Lewis County Memory Gardens at Black Oak with Bro. John M. Byard officiating.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
