Manneth Collier

Manneth Ray Collier, 71, of Quincy, passed away December 8, 2023, at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, after a brief illness.

Manneth was born at home near where the McDowell Creek enters the Kinniconick Creek at Garrison, on September 25, 1952, a son of the late Howard Bruce Collier Sr. and Shirley Naomi Foreman-Collier.

Manneth was of the Christian faith, and had always given of his time, talent, and treasures to help the churches throughout his life, Bivens Chapel as a child, Hilltop Tabernacle while raising his children, and most recently The Bridge Church, where his son Ben is the Pastor.

Manneth enjoyed babysitting grandkids and great-grandchildren, playing his guitar, and hosting big dinners with family and friends at his home on Hackworth Hollow. He had kept a daily log of weather, daily accomplishments, and important happenings since 1973. He was proud of his years of hard work and buddies made at Detroit Steel Mill New Boston, Ohio, Tram Construction Garrison, he later went on to work Piping Construction projects and ended his career as a proud retiree from United Association Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 248, where both his sons and grandson are members. He was very blessed with a host of great friends who helped him enjoy refinishing old equipment and rusty stuff from Wheelersburg flea market and Livingstons Recycling Center – plastic just wasn’t his thing. Most of all, Manneth loved to help his neighbors and community when there was a need, neighboring was easy for him.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Marie Kirby-Collier, of 49 years of marriage; two sons, Howard “Howie” Q Collier age 48 of Dummitt Ridge in Garrison, Benjamin D Collier age 47 (Leslie) of Dry Hollow in Garrison and one daughter, Mannetta Rae Collier-Howard age 41 (Jeremy) of Minford, Ohio; one grandson, Skyle Braxton Collier age 24 (Shanda) w/children, Skye Kelly Collier age 4 and Raylan Boone Collier age 2; two granddaughters, Bailey Howard age 19 and Brinley Howard age 13; two sisters, Geraldine Collier-Thurman and Teresa Collier-Lewis of Garrison; one brother, Charles “Charlie” Collier (Rhesa) of Willard; nephews, Micah Lewis, Eric Kirby, Allan Collier, Shawn Dale Collier, and Jason Collier; and one niece, Amy Lewis-Collins. A host of great-nephews, great-nieces, and his chosen kin who called him Papaw Manny and Uncle Manny. He also leaves many other extended family members, friends, and neighbors who will sadly mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, Manneth was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard Collier Jr. and Duane Collier.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel at Garrison with Rev. Dusty Caseman and Bro. Jerry Noble officiating. A graveside service will follow, led by Bro. Travis Cooper at Skidmore Cemetery, which is only about 200 feet from Manneth’s birthplace.

Friends may visit from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, and preceding the service from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 103 Dudley Avenue at Garrison.

Funeral Home – Skyle Collier, Micah Lewis, Eric Kirby, Allen Collier, Shaw Dale Collier, and Jason Collier.

Graveyard – Jeremy Howard, Harley Collier, Jarred Lewis, Hayden Potter, Cory Collins, and Kade Walters.
