Marlin ‘Tad’ Burriss

Marlin E. “Tad” Burriss, 67, of Garrison, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at his home.

He was born in Lewis County on June 4, 1956, a son of the late Marlin Lee and Mary Jane Pollitt Burriss. 

Tad, as he was known by family and friends, worked for the Kentucky State Highway Department in Lewis County for more than 33 years. He loved raising a garden and was always very proud of the results.

Left to cherish Tad’s memories are a daughter, Laken (Zack) Rainwater of West Union, Ohio; a son, Joshua (Kayla) Burriss of Tollesboro; his companion of 23 years, Virgie Grigson of Garrison; a stepdaughter, Amanda Grigson; a stepson, Chris Bloomfield; a sister, Lynn (Rick) Hughes of Maysville; three brothers, Mike Burriss, Randy (Pauline) Burriss, and Nelson (Debbie) Burriss of Vanceburg; and his grandchildren, Ryleigh, Hayden, Kaisyn, Mackenzie, and Mackenna. Many other family members and friends also survive who will mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Burriss, and a brother, Carl R. “Butch” Burriss.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 28, 2024, in Black Oak Cemetery with Bro. Tony Corns officiating. 

Gaydos Funeral Home in Vanceburg is serving the family.
