Marty W. Brown

Marty W. Brown

Marty W. Brown, 59, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, and formerly of Bucyrus, died unexpectedly on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Wyandot Memorial Hospital.

Marty was born July 9, 1963, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to the late Cecil and Elizabeth (Knell) Brown.

Following the death of his mother, he moved to the area and attended Fairway School. Marty spent 30 plus years working at Waycraft and then worked at Angeline Industries. While at Angeline, he attended Can-Do Studios in Carey, where he learned arts and crafts. He took an interest in canvas painting and he loved making paper chains, which became gifts for friends and family.

Marty was a thoughtful individual who was happiest around others. Anytime spent with friends and family brought smiles and laughter to his face. He looked forward to any holiday, but come September, he was ready to start decorating for Christmas as it was his favorite, and he had plenty of paper chains to properly decorate. From an early age, he enjoyed listening to music. Anything with a beat got him moving and the day before he passed, he‘d attended a group dance where he had the best night just being with others and listening to the music. Food also made Marty happy. Whether enjoying a holiday turkey meal, his nephew, Danny’s biscuits or dining out, Marty always got his fill. He looked forward to church on Sunday and was always eager to praise God with an “Amen,” and the music also kept him going back. One of Marty’s favorite treats was cherry tomatoes. He grew them and though he was a thoughtful guy, sometimes sharing with others was a struggle.

Marty is survived by siblings, Curly Brown, Betty Jo Henderson, Violet Clark, and Mary Lynn Brown; and many nieces and nephews, including Pam (Danny) Russell, who was a caregiver and his biggest fan.

In addition to his parents, Marty was preceded in death by many siblings.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren Street, Bucyrus, Ohio. He will then be transported to Kentucky where visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 18, at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West 2nd Street, Vanceburg.

A graveside service will follow in Briary (Brown) Cemetery with Bro. Jim Bob Williams officiating.
