Mary Jo Gilbert Hawks, 47, of Vanceburg, died Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Hospice of Hope Care Center in Maysville.
She was born April 19, 1978, in Portsmouth, Ohio, a daughter of Paul Donald and June Ware Gilbert of Shelbyville, and Bob and Judy Kielman Craycraft of Vanceburg.
Mary was a Christian. She was a nurse and the manager of SOMC Family Health Center in Vanceburg. She enjoyed going to the beach and out to eat, shopping, and spending time with her family —especially her children.
In addition to her parents, survivors include her husband of 28 years, Scotty Hawks; one daughter, Charla Jayde Hawks of Ashland; one son, Ethan Scott Hawks of Vanceburg; one sister, Lisa Bolin of Shelbyville; four brothers, Joe Paul Gilbert of Vanceburg, Adam Craycraft and Jason Craycraft of Columbus, Ohio, and Danny McCann of Baghdad. Many other family members and friends also mourn her passing.
Services will be at Noon Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 103 Dudley Avenue at Garrison, with Bro. Scottie Elswick officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens at Black Oak.
Visitation will be after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
