Maurice “Poppi” Scott, 68, of Vanceburg, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.
He was born November 17, 1954, in Lewis County, a son of the late Carl Scott and Georgia Montieth Scott.
Maurice was a member of Petersville Church of God. He enjoyed going to church, logging, going to the camp, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Katrina Scott; two sons, Micheal Ruggiery (Lisa) of Garrison, and Christopher Roberts (Rachel) of West Virginia; two brothers, Carl Morton Scott Jr. (Becky) of Vanceburg and Johnny Scott (Andrea) of Camp Dix; nine sisters, Bonnie Rigdon of Tollesboro, Cheryl Riley (Mitch) and Georgia Fay Sawyer (Jack) of Vanceburg, Loretta Carter (Sammie), Carla Parton, and Amanda Bloom (Steve) of Ohio, and Mildred Clifford (Joey), Rhonda Susie Buckner (Lonnie), and Ruth “Junie” Buckner (Danny) of Camp Dix; four grandchildren, Ethen Roberts, Emma Roberts, McKayla Howard (Anthony Kiser), and Cherokee Sapp (Dylan); and four great-grandchildren, Addison Marie Kiser, Rhae Kiser, Avery Sapp, and Lilia Sapp. A host of other family members and friends also survive who will sadly mourn his passing.
Services will be at Noon Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Petersville Church of God with Bro. Milt Stanfield officiating. Burial will follow in Skidmore Cemetery at Garrison.
Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 20, 2023, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 103 Dudley Avenue at Garrison, and after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Petersville Church of God, 12688 KY 344.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
