Melissa Louise Bloomfield, 54, of Vanceburg, passed away Wednesday evening, August 3, 2016, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia, as a resultof injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Rowan County.
She was born February 27, 1962, in Mason County, a daughter of the late Leona Cooper Bevins.
Melissa was a homemaker and loved her animals, flowers, gardening, reading, spending time with her family, and especially spoiling her grandchildren.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her ex-husband of 16 years, Jerry “Bird” Bloomfield; one son, Donnie Lightner; one daughter, Tracy Lynn Bevins; one brother, Randy Dale Bevins; two sisters, Patty Morriss and Karen Swinson; one niece, Heather Stone; and many beloved pets.
Melissa is survived by her loyal companion, Walter Cook of Vanceburg; three daughters, Stephanie Hope Webb (Aaron) of Vanceburg, Melinda Leona Williamson (David) of Ashland, and Misty Lynn Bloomfield (Jarrett Withrow) of New Boston, Ohio; four grandchildren, Abagale Williamson, Connor Williamson, Chandler Williamson, and Erin Elizabeth Grace Webb; and four sisters, Kathy Branam of Cleveland, Tennessee, Kelly Faulkner of Owenton, Shirley Bevins and Diane Smith, both of Vanceburg. She also leaves many other family members, pets, and friends who will sadly miss her.
A Celebration of Life service will be at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Bro. Charlie Brown officiating. Burial will be in Black Oak Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Friends may visit from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg.
