Michael Joseph Ilhardt, 72 of Lincolnton, Georgia, entered into rest on Monday, September 21, 2020.
Mr. Ilhardt, son of the late Bernice and Alice Tolle Ilhardt, was born in New Richmond, Ohio, and excelled at many things including Eagle Scout. After high school, he received a Master’s degree in Education from Morehead State University and taught history and geography before deciding to change careers. Following his teaching career, he worked for and retired from Fluor Daniels as an ace pipefitter and retired as a job superintendent. He was a lifelong NRA member, and active member of American Legion #194, Lincoln County Historical Society, and the Little River Chapter of Sons of American Revolution. Almost four years ago, he moved from Tollesboro to Lincolnton. His interests included gardening, traveling, and history.
He is survived by his wife, Julie Maillet Ilhardt; two sons, Christopher Ilhardt of Tollesboro and Steven Ilhardt of Vanceburg; a daughter, Holly Ilhardt Booker of Vanceburg; his stepchildren, Challas Dean Tackett of Lantana, Texas, Chad Douglas Tackett of Lincolnton, Georgia, and Jason Arthur Wolfe of Sebring, Florida; a brother, James Gerald Tolle of Libby, Montana; a sister, Candice Ilhardt Morris of Maysville; four grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be Wednesday, September 30, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. in The Lewis Family Pavilion located at Lincoln County Historical Park in Lincolnton.
