Mildred L. Payton Collins, 94, of Sunbury, Ohio, formerly of Garrison, passed away at 12:03 a.m. Thursday April 14, 2016, at Country View of Sunbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness.
Mildred was born in New Boston, Ohio, December 3, 1921, to the late George Gardner and Anna B. Conn Payton. She was a homemaker, a loving wife and mother. She was of the Christian faith.
Mildred loved spending time cooking and being in her garden. She loved her family very much and adored her grandchildren.
Survivors include five daughters, Faith Hook (David) Stump of Quincy, Joan (Wayne) Clark of Garrison, Hope (Lee) Atwood of Johnstown, Ohio, Gay Sabia and Joy Tice both of Westerville, Ohio; two sons, Carl (Patsy) Collins of South Shore, and David (Donna) Collins of Delaware, Ohio; one sister, Loraine Myer of Canal Winchester, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Noel Collins, in 2005; a daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Jack Baker; five brothers; and three sisters.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Gaydos Funeral Home, 159 Second Street in Vanceburg, with Sis. Wilma Erwin officiating. Burial will follow in Waring Cemetery at Garrison.
Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call from Noon until the hour of of services Saturday at Gaydos Funeral Home.
