Millie Smith Bloomfield, 88, of Laurel, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2025, at UK St. Claire in Morehead. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Millie was born in Lewis County on February 9, 1936, a daughter of the late Thurston and Rosie Bloomfield Smith.
She enjoyed gardening, watching Westerns, cooking, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters, Lula Miller, Barbara (Harlan) Rickett, and Judy Richmond of Vanceburg; two sons, Jackie Bloomfield and Curtis Bloomfield; one sister, Betty Davis of Olive Hill; two brothers, Simon Smith of Vanceburg and Leon Smith of Olive Hill; a son-in-law, Doug Davis; a daughter-in-law, Diane Bloomfield; seven grandchildren, Daniel, Amanda, Amy, Angie, Lacy, Terry, and Dalton; eight great-grandchildren, Hanna, Madyson, Nathan, Douglas, Noah, Trinity, Mia, and Conner; and two great-great-grandchildren, Harlan and Holden. Many other family members and friends also survive who will sadly miss her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Charles Jackson “Jack” Bloomfield; one daughter, Tina Davis; two sons, Norman Bloomfield and Darrel Bloomfield; four sisters, Nellie Marie Smith, Myrtle Cooley, Ida Mae Knell, Iness Knell; four brothers, Gene Smith, Junior Smith, Charles Smith, and Lovell Smith; and a son-in-law, Gary Miller.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Nolen Pentecostal Church on Laurel with Bro. Ronnie Enix and Bro. Daniel Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Gilliam Cemetery at Laurel.
Friends may visit after 5:00 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2025, and after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Nolen Pentecostal Church.
