Deputy Matt Ross is investigating a single vehicle accident Tuesday evening, January 26, on Salt Lick Road (Ky. Rt, 989). Only minor injuries were reported as a result of the accident.

Ross said the pick-up was operated by Devon N. Sweet, 18, of Maysville.

Sweet was traveling south on the roadway about 4.4 miles south of the AA Highway when he apparently lost control of the vehicle in a curve and went off the roadway.

The pick-up truck caught fire after Sweet and Cody Hicks, 19, of Tollesboro, were able to exit the vehicle.

Ross said both young men were taken to Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville with relatively minor injuries.

Ross, who is continuing the investigation into the accident, was assisted by Deputy Gary Sparks, Tollesboro Fire and Rescue, and Portsmouth Ambulance.
