Mitchell Ray Penrod, 72, of Vanceburg, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022, at his home.
He was born December 21, 1949, in Portsmouth, Ohio, a son of Oletha Bayless Penrod and the late Harley Penrod.
He enjoyed drag racing. He was an avid race car driver and loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his loving wife of 27 years, Sandra Cooley Penrod; one son, Brian (Crystal) Penrod of Germantown; four daughters, Lisa (Harold) Carrington of Minervia, Misty (Rick) Cooley of Vanceburg, Bobbie (Anthony) Munoz of Georgia, and Bri-ar Bellew of Vanceburg; two brothers, Cecil (Mary) Penrod of Dover and Ricky (Eve) Penrod of Newport News, Virginia; one sister, Laraine (Johnny) Cooper of Tollesboro; a special brother-in-law, Phillip (Dove) Cooley; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A host of other family members and friends also survive who will sadly mourn his passing.
In addition to his father, Mitchell was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Penrod, and two grandchildren, Mitchell Timmins and Dylan Timmins.
A memorial service will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Tollesboro Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 11918 Kentucky 57 at Tollesboro, with Bro. Gary Biddle officiating.
Friends may visit one hour prior to services Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Tollesboro Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
