Monty Stidham

Monty W. “Shorty” Stidam, 66, of Vanceburg, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Southern Ohio Inpatient Hospice Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Born March 23, 1957, in Lewis County, he was a son of the late Winston and Vivian Sparks Stidam.

Monty was a farmer and logger. He loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren, brother Kevin, cousin Marty McCleese, and special brother-in-law, Lawrence Caudill. Monty also loved Dodge trucks, tractor shows, and mushroom hunting. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Monty’s memory will be cherished by his wife of 38 years, Leachie Caudill Stidam; a son, Michael White Stidam (Sharon) of Plainwell, Michigan; two daughters, Carrie Gulley (Brad) of Morehead and Vivan Stidam of Vanceburg; a sister, Brenda Willoughby (Richard) of Vanceburg; three brothers, Jeff Stidam (Angela) of Mt. Sterling, Kevin Stidam (Nancy) of Morehead, and Steven Stidam (Tina) of Vanceburg; and six grandchildren, Austin (Papaw’s Little Buddy), Kaylor, Liam, Kadence, Natalie, and Summer. Numerous nieces and nephews, and other extended family and friends also survive who will mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Darrell Stidam and Allen Stidam, and two infant grandchildren.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 14, 2023, at Northcutt and Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel in Morehead with Bro. Terry Cooper and Bro. Randy Wagoner officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens at Morehead.

Pallbearers will be Austin Hickok, Brad Gulley, Marty McCleese, Tyler McCleese, Rocky Stacy, Kevin Stidam, Ronnie Stidam, and Kevin Watkins.

Honorary pallbearers will be Michael White Stidam, Lawrence Caudill, Brian Stidam, Tyler Butler, Eric Willoughby, and Brian Caudill.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2023, at Northcutt and Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive in Morehead.
