Mother, unborn child die following collision

Sheriff’s Sgt. Matt Ross examines the scene of a collision Wednesday on the Grayson Spur of the AA Highway. A mother and her unborn child died following the collision.

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision on the Grayson Spur of the AA Highway Wednesday that claimed the lives of a mother and her unborn baby.

Sheriff Johnny Bivens said the incident happened shortly after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday south of Trace Creek Road on the Grayson Spur.

Bivens said a 2000 Yukon, operated by Kenneth Ford, 44, of Marmet, West Virginia, was traveling north on the roadway when he had reportedly attempted to pass a tractor-trailer.
