Nancy Jean Clarke Bess, 73, of Vanceburg, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday afternoon, June 18, 2016.
She was born January 13, 1943, in Boyd County, the daughter of the late Roscoe Allen and Erma Mae Leake Clarke.
Nancy was an avid reader, loved cooking, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Wallace Eugene Bess Jr., who passed away on March 25, 2016; one brother, Johnny R. Clarke; and her sister-in-law, Helen “Charlene” Clarke.
Nancy is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Gene Allen and Debe Bess of Dixon, Missouri, and John Wallace and Farrah Bess of Huntington, Indiana; one daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Jeff Evans of Flatwoods; six grandchildren and four step granchildren, Jeff “Jebby” (Amanda) Evans Jr., Justin (Kasey) Evans, Josh (Gloria) Evans, Ivan (Jennifer) Bess, Curtis (Caroline) Bess, Chase Whitley Bess, Chris Martin, Nori Currenton, Layne and Lacie Emory; and three great-grandchildren, Trey Evans, Greysen Evans, and Amaya Bess. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast in Greenup County, with Bro. Charles Shields officiating.
Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg is caring for all arrangements for the family.

Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast is located on East Park Drive off Highway 67 and Industrial Parkway off I-64 in Greenup County, approximately one half-mile north of I-64 at the Boyd, Carter and Greenup County border.

The cemetery address is 100 Veterans Memorial Drive, Grayson, Kentucky 41143.
