Deputy Eric Poynter is investigating a single vehicle accident Sunday afternoon on Ky. Rt. 377.
Poynter said the accident happened about 2:00 p.m. about two miles south of Ky. Rt. 344 when a Chevrolet Malibu, operated by Claire E. Esham, 50, of Lancaster, was traveling south on the roadway.
He said the vehicle went off the left side of the roadway, over an embankment, and struck at tree.
Poynter said Esham and her son, a passenger in the vehicle, were not injured. He attributed the accident to driver inattention.
Poynter was assisted at the scene by Camp Dix and Kinniconick fire departments, Portsmouth Ambulance, and Hester Towing.
