One charged after car hopping spree

A night of car hopping has landed a Fleming County resident in jail.

“We have identified at least one other suspect in these incidents,” said Deputy Bryon Walker.

“Car hopping is when thieves steal things from several vehicles, usually in the same area,” Walker said.

He added the thieves generally target unlocked vehicles and once inside steal anything of value.

“Sunglasses, cell phone charges, CDs, electronics, purses, spare change, just about anything you can think of,” Walker said.

Walker said the latest car hopping report he received came early Friday morning, January 22.
