Opal Lewis Carver, 105, of New Carlisle, Ohio, formerly of Camp Dix, passed away Wednesday morning, February 3, 2016, at the Dayview Care Center in New Carlisle.

She was born December 13, 1910, in Lewis County, a daughter of the late Stephen and Malinda Bloomfield Lewis.

Opal was a member of Blankenship Christian Holiness Church and had been saved since she was 14 years old. She was a retired school teacher from the Lewis County school system with 40 years of service. Opal enjoyed gardening, reading, spending time with her daughter and especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, William Alba Carver; four brothers, Otto Lewis, Simon Lewis, Ward Lewis and Earl Lewis; two sisters, Ora Kiser and Cindy Smith; and one great-grandson, Garrett Ethan Lammers.

Opal is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Linda L. and Gary E. Cooper of New Carlisle; two granddaughters, Tammy L. and Ben Lammers of New Carlisle, and Laura N. and Austin Robertson of Hubert Heights, Ohio; and three great-grandchildren, Gabryelle Lammers, Lauryn Lammers and Eli Lammers. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

Services were Saturday, February 6, 2016, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel in Camp Dix with Bro. Jim DeAtley and Bro. Jack Hinton officiating. Burial was in Lewis Cemetery on Scotts Branch at Camp Dix.

Family and friends served as pallbearers.
