Opal Geneva Highfield Truesdell, 85, of Vanceburg, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Meadowview Regional Medical Center, in Maysville.
She was born March 29, 1937, in Lewis County, a daughter of the late Harry Clifton and Mary Julia Hampton Highfield.
Opal enjoyed dancing, working crossword puzzles, talking with her sister on the phone, and spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren.
Opal is survived by two sons, Charles Austin (Rhonda) Truesdell Jr. of Ewing, and Ernest (Anita) Truesdell of Vanceburg; three daughters, Debra Lynn McCann of Vanceburg, Jacqueline Lou (Purdy) Dearing, and Aquina Dawn Truesdell, both of Tollesboro; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one brother, Frankie Allen (Betty) Highfield of Tollesboro; one sister, Carolyn Jean Ruark of Vanceburg; special friends, Mitchell and Diane Ruark; along with many family members and friends who will sadly mourn her passing.
In addition to her parents, Opal was preceded in death by one brother, James Otto Highfield; and one sister, Betty Louis Bayless.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 13, 2023, at Tollesboro Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 11918 KY 57, Tollesboro with Bro. John Byard officiating. Burial will follow in the McClurg Cemetery at Concord.
Opal’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers and her granddaughters and great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
