Orville Dyer, 85, of Vanceburg, passed away Friday, April 29, 2016, at Golden Living Center of Vanceburg following an extended illness.
Mr. Dyer was born in Vanceburg on October 12, 1930, to the late Roscoe and Minnie Armstrong Dyer.
He was a retired iron worker from Indianapolis, Indiana, and was a farmer. Orville proudly served his country as a sergeant in the US Army.
Survivors include three daughters, Pat Dyer, Kathy Ginn, and Becky (Larry) Toller, all of Vanceburg; one son, Jeffery Dyer of Vanceburg; two sisters, Barb Butler and Bonnie (Robert) Gillispie, both of Indiana; seven grandchildren, Melissa (Ryan) Smith of Norris, Tennessee, Donald Ginn, Orville (Crystal) Toller, Crystal (Michael) Flannigan and Barbie (Kenny) Tully, all of Vanceburg, Jeffery (Bub) Dyer of Cynthiana, and Misty Ginn of Florida; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a good friend, Donald Ginn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Christine Butler Dyer; a son, David Dyer; a granddaughter, Tracy Dyer; and seven brothers, Clifford, Roscoe, Randall, Woody, Jimmy, Russell, and Kirby Dyer.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Gaydos Funeral Home in Vanceburg is in charge of arrangements.
