Orville “Jim” Silvey Jr., 80, of Portsmouth, Ohio, died Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Grant Hospital, Columbus, Ohio.
He was born September 26, 1935, in Vanceburg to the late Orville Silvey Sr. and Lucy Belle Gardner Silvey.
Jim served his country as a US Marine and was a former employee of Detroit Steel Corporation, from where he retired.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Betty Silvey of West Portsmouth, Ohio; a daughter, Diana Silvey of Parkersburg, West Virginia; a stepdaughter, Rhonda Thurman of West Portsmouth; a grandson, Benjamin Pennington; two brothers, John Silvey of Vanceburg, and Jerry Silvey of Bozeman, Montana; five sisters, Janet Farrow of Manassas, Virginia, Jewell Fill of Columbus, Ohio, Joyce “Cookie” Howse of West Palm Beach, Florida, Jackie Brooks of Vanceburg, and Jane Phillips of O’Fallon, Illinois.
At Jim’s request, their was no service. Interment was in Lewis County Memory Gardens at Black Oak. He was accorded full military rites.
Arrangements were under the direction of FC Daehler Mortuary Company in Portsmouth, Ohio.
