Ottis Wright

Ottis Wright, 97, of Quincy, passed away Friday, October 11, 2024, at his home.

He was born in Carter County on January 1, 1927, a son of the late Estil and May Meadows Wright.

Ottis proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He enjoyed going for drives in Carter County, working on cars and mowers, mowing the grass, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Devonna Fairchild Wright; three daughters, Linda Stone and Rhonda Mayton of Texas and Stephany (Mike) Blevins of Garrison; four sons, John (Tammy) Wright of Waxahachie, Texas, Mark (Becky) Wright of Nebraska, Phillip (Sarah) Wright of Jackson, Ohio, and Michael (Trina) Justice of Garrison; one sister, Rose Ruggles of North Carolina; one grandson, whom he raised as his own, Brandon Wright; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Many other family members, friends, and neighbors also survive who will sadly miss him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven sisters, Wilma Milton, Hazel Bumgardner, Jessie Rutherford, Evaline Gilliland, Dorothy Wood, Ann King, and Nola Clevenger; and two brothers, Bill Wright, Estil Wright Jr.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2024, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast at Greenup.
