Peggy Ann Sartin Gilbert, 84, of Vanceburg, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 2, 2020, at SOMC Hospice Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. She had fought a good fight and finished her course, keeping the faith of the saints.
She was born November 3, 1935, at Vanceburg, a daughter of the late Forrest Clifford and Hannah Mae Reider Sartin.
Peggy was a long-term faithful member of Vanceburg United Methodist Church where she enjoyed her Sunday school class. She was a faithful prayer warrior and would call members to start prayer chains for many people in the community and other states. She loved her church family and living a Godly Holy Life unto the Lord Jesus Christ, her Redeemer. Peggy was a homemaker and helped her husband run Gilbert’s Salvage Yard for many years until his passing in 1998. She was a loving sister, aunt, and friend to many.
Peggy is survived by one sister, Wilma (Ray) Hoffman of Vanceburg; one sister-in-law, Betty Bivens of Mansfield, Ohio; special nephews, Rodney P. Sartin of Springfield, Ohio, Steven Brown, James Brown, Michael Brown, and Charlie Brown, all of Vanceburg; special nieces, Victoria Brown Lewis and Norma Sartin, both of Flemingsburg; one special great-nephew, Jacob R. Sartin of Vanceburg; and one special great-great-nephew, Josiah J. Sartin of Vanceburg. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Gilbert; two sisters, Vernie Sartin Woods and Ruth Sartin Aqurier; two infant sisters, Helen Faye Sartin and Betty Mae Sartin; four brothers, Paul Sartin, John Sartin, Jack Sartin, and James Sartin.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2020, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Bro. Jacob Sartin and Bro. Bob Sweeney officiating. Interment will follow in Black Oak Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2020, at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, contributions may be sent in Peggy’s memory, to the Vanceburg United Methodist Church / Food Pantry.
