Mitchell Allen “Pete” Bivens, 68, of Garrison, passed away Monday, November 24, 2025, with his wife, daughter, and son by his side.
He was born at home in Garrison on April 9, 1957, a son of the late Alex Asbury Bivens and Iris Ginn Bivens.
Pete retired as a construction foreman. He was also a lifelong farmer and farm equipment mechanic. He will be fondly remembered as The Tractor Man. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, his animals, and listening to country music.
Pete was devoted to his family and cherished time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Cathy Tackett Bivens; one daughter, Jennifer (Roger) Clere of Oak Harbor, Ohio; one son, Zachariah (Malinda) Bivens of Falmouth, Indiana; three sisters, Edna Bivens, Linda Lou Carter, and Susie Penrod; eight brothers, Mike Bivens, Ronald Bivens, John Bivens, Roger Bivens, Keith Bivens, Mark Bivens, Robert Bivens, and Jerry Bivens; and five grandchildren, Lucas Bivens, Carter Bivens, Jordan Fegan, Madison Clere and Abbi Clere. Many other family members and friends will sadly miss him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jewell Freeman, and five brothers, Donald Bivens, David Bivens, Charles Bivens, Floyd Bivens, and Jessie Bivens.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 103 Dudley Avenue at Garrison, with Bro. Morgan Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Waring Cemetery at Garrison.
Friends may visit after 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel at Garrison.
