Phyllis Goodpaster

Phyllis Ann Goodpaster, 80, of Mt. Sterling, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at her home.

Born in Lewis County on February 3, 1944, her father was the late Adrian Hord and her mother was the late Pauline Applegate Hord.

Phyllis worked in automotive upholstery and repair. She was an artistic woman who loved painting and drawing. She also enjoyed flower gardening and quilting. She was a member of the Christian Assembly Church of God at Mt. Sterling.

Phyllis is survived by two of her children, Bret (Dee Gee Roe) Kirkland and Trevor (Rachel) Kirkland; her three grandchildren, Hannah Marie Kirkland, Sarah Grace Kirkland, and Zachary Kirkland; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

In addition to her mother Pauline and her father Adrian, Phyllis was preceded in death by three of her children, John Paul Kirkland, and Brad and Brent Kirkland (twin infants); and her six siblings, Carol Jane Howell, Edwin Hord, John Hord, Erma Hook, Merrill Hord, and Gayle Hord.

Services will begin at Noon Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home in Flemingsburg with Bro. Arnold Howell officiating.

Phyllis will be laid to rest in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home, 150 West Water Street in Flemingsburg.
