Rick L. Johnson, 66, of Garrison, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at his home.
Rick was born at Portsmouth, Ohio, on April 7, 1958, a son of Katy Worthington of Garrison and the late Charlie Johnson.
Rick owned and operated Garrison Auction most of his life. He enjoyed playing slot machines, fishing, and NASCAR but he loved to go junkin’. Rick was a veteran having proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.
In addition to his mother, others left to cherish Rick’s memories are his wife of 40 years, Muriel Ruth Thacker Johnson; three daughters, Amanda Moore of Garrison, Nicky Stafford of Black Oak, and Glenna (Billy) Collins of Vanceburg; a sister, Charla Johnson of Garrison; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his father, Rick was preceded in death by a son, Chadwick L. Johnson, in 2020.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Gaydos Funeral Home, 159 Second Street in Vanceburg, with Bro. Wes Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens at Black Oak.
Military graveside rites will be accorded by the Monte Lewis Stamm VFW Post 5438 of Vanceburg.
Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Gaydos Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Billy Kibler, Alex Johnson, Eddie Bost, Dustin Toller, Billy Collins, Tucker Bruch, Dennis Cooper, and Dennis Plummer.
