Rita Wheeler Lightner, 63, of Tollesboro, died Tuesday, August 09, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Ft. Thomas.
Mrs. Lightner was a member of Pine Valley Christian Church and was retired from Maysville Nursing and Rehabilitation.
She was born in Maysville on January 29, 1953, a daughter of the late Elizabeth Mae Schweickart Sparks and Norse Wheeler.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Lightner of Tollesboro; a son, Jimmy Joe Lightner (Ashley) of Tollesboro; two daughters, Bobbie Wheeler-Butler (Tony) of Melbourne, and Ashley McClain (Ted) of Tollesboro; four stepchildren, Newell Lightner (Mary Ann), Melanie Hill, Amy Thacker and Jamie Monteith, all of Vanceburg; four grandchildren, Wyatt Sparks, Lincoln McClain, Aubrianna Grace Lightner and Nathaniel Lightner; several step-grandchildren; a brother, George Sparks (Kimberly D.) of Tollesboro; and four sisters, Judy Geagley (Gordon) of Tollesboro, Shari Cook (Ronnie) of Union, Sandra Crispo (Dennis), and Sue Ann Yockey both of West Palm Beach, Florida.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Doug Sparks; two brothers, William Douglas Sparks and Timothy Wheeler; and one sister, Shelia Howard.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2016, at Pine Valley Christian Church with Rev. Phil Cropper officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Valley Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2016, at Barbour and Son Funeral Home in Tollesboro.
