Robert Jenkins Sparks Sr., 75, of Vanceburg, died Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.
He was born in Lewis County on September 5, 1948, a son of the late Joseph Fildend and Emma Howard Sparks.
He was of the Christian Faith. He enjoyed fishing, going to yard sales, hunting ginseng, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include one son, Robert Sparks Jr. of Grayson; one daughter, Alissa Dawn Ringer of Garrison; two brothers, Tom Jackson Sparks of Garrison and Vernon Luther Sparks of Olive Hill; four sisters, Freda Ellen Roe of Richmond, Beverlee McGlone, Bethalee McGlone, and Carolyn Pyle of Olive Hill; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and his fur baby, Breezee. Many other family members and friends also survive who will sadly mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Patty Marie Dyer Sparks; three brothers, Charles Austin Sparks, Cecil Dean Sparks, and Joseph “Bub” Sparks; two sisters, Rose Lee Griggson and Geneva McGlone; and one great-grandson, Gabriel Christian James Smith.
A celebration of life for Robert Sparks Sr. will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, September 3, 2023, at Super 8 Conference Room in Grayson. Burial will follow in Jamison Cemetery at Garrison.
