Rocky Lane Jamison, affectionately known as “The Rock,” was born on March 20, 1957, in Portsmouth, Ohio. He passed away peacefully on August 25, 2024 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
He is the eldest son of Wanda and the late Paul Jamison of Garrison.
He is the beloved big brother of Randy (Denise) and Mitchell “Wally” (Tammy) Jamison.
He is the husband of Nedra (Allen) Jamison of Garrison.
He is father to Brittany (Ryan) Hurley of Morrow, Ohio, Laura (Dustin) Bradford of Maysville, and Abigail (Brandon) Hardin of Garrison.
He is the Papaw of Maggie and Ella Hurley, Brianna and Bella Carver, Brylee, Bentley and Braelyn Bradford, Addison and Mylee Hardin, Ryder and Remi Powell
Rocky dedicated his career to hard work as a laborer, proudly serving as a member of the Local Laborers Union 1445. However, his true passions lay in the great outdoors and his family. He found immense joy in hunting, fishing, and farming, often sharing these beloved activities with his grandchildren.
He loved Kentucky and his hometown. He loved the hills and woods surrounding the place he called home for over 60 years. He knew every curve and turn in the Kinniconick Creek, the deepest crappie holes at Grayson Lake and knew exactly when to plant his garden to grow the best tomatoes and green beans.
Nothing brought Rocky greater happiness than spending time with his family, farming and doing a “little of this and little of that.” He knew a little bit and a lot about everything from construction to auto repair to farming and trapping. He loved being out and about in Garrison where he knew everyone and everyone knew him.
He had a big personality and an even bigger gun and knife collection. He had jokes, a contagious laugh and smile for everyone that saw him. He considered himself an artist of telling stories. He was a generous person and would have given anyone the bibbed overalls off of his own back.
His favorite place in the world was the farm and land where he and his beloved wife, Nedra, have built their home and family for over 35 years.
Rocky Lane Jamison leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a deep appreciation for nature. He will be profoundly missed by his family and friends who were fortunate enough to know him.
