Roger Lee Caldwell, 77, of Garrison, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington following a long illness.
He was born June 6, 1948, in Lee County, Ohio, a son of the late Chester and Ethel Miller Caldwell.
Roger was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy and retired from the railroad after many years of dedicated work. He will be remembered for his strength, steady presence, and unwavering love for his family.
Survivors include three daughters, Kyra Zornes, Shonda (David) Mosley, and Kailee “Nikki” Caldwell; two sons, Christopher (Deanna) Caldwell and Daniel White; four sisters, Donna Ruckel, Marge Everman, Kathy Wright, and Jeanne Gordon; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Many other family members and friends will cherish his memories.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Kathy Williamson Caldwell; four sisters Janice Elizondo, Faye Johnson, Barbara Cottrell, and Linda Johnson; four brothers Dwight E. Adams, Dewey Robert Adams, Thomas Adams, and Chester Caldwell; a step-brother Bob Adams; a son-in-law John “Pork” Zornes; and brothers-in-law Jon Johnson, Jerry Ruckel, Les Cottrell, and Terry Hendrickson.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2025, at Gaydos Funeral Home, 159 Second Street in Vanceburg, with Bro. Patrick Tumlin officiating. Burial will follow in Waring Cemetery at Garrison.
Military graveside rites will be accorded by the Monte Lewis Stamm VFW Post 5438 of Vanceburg.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2025, and after 9:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Timothy Caldwell, Christopher Caldwell, Jay Zornes, Matt Zornes, Devan Walters, Kyle Caldwell, Cameron Caldwell, and David Mosley. Honorary pallbearers will be Blaine Cooley and Bryson Jenkins.
