Raymond Roscoe Gilliam, 86, of Vanceburg, passed away Saturday morning, February 8, 2025, at his home. He was surrounded by his loving family.
He was born January 14, 1939, in Lewis County, a son of the late Ira Lee and Marie Richmond Gilliam.
Roscoe proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was employed as an iron worker and retired from the Boilermakers Local 105. Roscoe was a member of Hilltop Tabernacle Church and enjoyed farming, caring for his cattle, going out to eat, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Betty Jean Lewis Gilliam; three daughters, Kathy (Kevin) Cooper of Camp Dix, Connie Lynn (Paul) Swearingen of Vanceburg, and Subrena (Shawn) Crump of Carlisle; one son, Raymond Daniel (Kimberly Sue) Gilliam of Crystal River, Florida; six sisters, Nellie Walters of Johnsville, Ohio, Mildred Bloomfield, Louise Bloomfield, Carolyn (Delbert) McGlone and Phyllis (Bob) Bentley of Camp Dix, and Donetta (Ronnie) Beiland of Warren, Ohio; six grandchildren, Davin (Kate) Bentley, Danielle (Scott) Alles, Landon Bentley, Zachary Gilliam, Natosha (Alan White) Swearingen, and Kami (Brandon) Bate; and nine great-grandchildren. Many other family members and friends also survive who will sadly miss him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Brendon Waylon, Brittany Travis, and Nathan Travis.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 7975 Lower Kinney Road at Camp Dix, with Bro. Jerry Bloomfield and Bro. John Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Morgan Cemetery at Head of Grassy.
Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2025, and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel at Camp Dix.
Pallbearers will be Landon Bentley, Zach Gilliam, Steve Walters, Pat McGlone, Bob Bentley, Eric Bloomfield, and Rodney McGlone.
