Roscoe Dale May, 91, passed away Monday, March 9, 2026, at Hospice of Hope Care Center in Maysville.
He was a lifelong resident of Quick’s Run, born June 30, 1934, the sixth child of Ross and Daisy Cadwaller May. He was a member of Martin Christian Church at Quick’s Run.
Roscoe grew up on Quick’s Run and attended Martin School. He was a quiet, wonderful person who was a friend to everyone. He crafted beautiful furniture for everyone he worked for and was a perfectionist, which was evident in his work. He was a furniture maker who combined artistry with skilled craftsmanship to construct beautiful, functional furniture, often specializing in woodworking design and personally designing pieces with an artistic vision to conceptualize unique forms. He had a deep knowledge of wood and could apply precision craftsmanship and skilled technique to join, shape, and finish all the wood products he produced. He owned May Wood Products and personally designed all the cabinets and most of the furniture in their home.
Roscoe proudly served his country in the United States Army with the 7th Division in Germany.
He is survived by his only child, Bradley Dale May, who made his home with his father; his sisters, Doris May of Vanceburg Hills, Ruth May of Quick’s Run, Lena May O’Cull of Maysville Extended Care; one brother, Ray (Gail) May of Mt. Carmel; his grandchildren, Caleb (Kadee) May, Laura May, and Isaac May; sisters-in-law, Linda O’Cull, Ethel Mae O’Cull, Garnet Trimble (Shelby), and Anna Farmer (Joe). Many nieces, nephews, and friends will also sadly mourn his loss.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Norma Lee O’Cull May, who passed away May 19, 2025; a sister, Oleta Keller; and two brothers, Wade May and Don May.

Funeral services will be at 5:00 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2026, at Tollesboro Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 11918 KY 57 at Tollesboro, with Bro. John Byard officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Friends may visit after 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2026, at Tollesboro Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Myron Iery, Russell Iery, Tommy Polley, Tommy Polley Jr., Bradley Polley, and Kevin Box.
David Iery will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
