Sally Ruth Richmond Butler, 83, of Emerson, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Carter Nursing and Rehabilitation in Grayson.
She was born in Lewis County on May 31, 1940, a daughter of the late Delbert and Josie Carpenter Richmond.
Sally enjoyed watching westerns, listening to music, drinking coffee, watching the birds with Sue and Alana, visits from her best friends, Janet Richmond, Myrtle Brown and Lynn Zornes, her grandchildren coming to give her perms and polishing her nails.
She loved for everyone to come and share a meal with her and was always ready to visit with anyone who stopped in to see her, especially her children and grandchildren. Sally loved her family, friends and neighbors.
Survivors include two daughters, Loretta (James Ray) Easterling and Bonnie Butler (Clyde Logan) of Olive Hill; three sons, Donald (Diane) Butler of Morehead, and Ronald Butler (Sue Rivers) and Ricky Butler of Emerson; a granddaughter, Latoria Farley, who she raised as her daughter; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Many other family members and friends also survive who will sadly miss her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 33 years, Donald Vinson Butler; two sisters, Maggie Butler and Dorothy Spence; seven brothers, Herbert Richmond, Walter Richmond, Hobert Richmond, Bobby Richmond, Fred Richmond, Dewey Richmond, and Carl Lee Richmond; and one granddaughter, Kasey Pollard.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2024, at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Hwy 60 at Olive Hill, with Bro. Donald Butler and Bro. Bobby Day officiating. Burial will follow in Morgan Cemetery at Head of Grassy.
Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2024, and after 9:00 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2024, at Globe Funeral Chapel at Olive Hill.
