Samuel D. “Joe” Renchen, 93, of Tollesboro, died Thursday, December 15, 2016, at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home in Flemingsburg.
Mr. Renchen was the widower of Joyce Ann Clark Renchen who died in 2010.
He was a mechanic by trade and was a World War II veteran having served in the US Army.
Mr. Renchen was born in Lewis County April 4, 1923, a son of the late Desmond and Beulah Himes Renchen.
Survivors include a special grandson, Samuel Rae Clark; his children, Meridith Renchen, Garland Renchen, Kent Renchen, David Renchen, Clifford Renchen, Timmy Renchen, Darren Renchen, Ellen Kielman, Gilda Thornton, Vanita Grades, Lynn Ziegler and Annette Shepherd; 21 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Aubrey Wayne Renchen; and a sister-in-law, Sandy (David) Clark.
In addition to his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Barry Renchen and Terry Renchen; one brother, Ray Renchen; and one sister, Virginia Highfield.
Services for Joe Renchen will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 19, at Barbour and Son Funeral Home in Tollesboro with Rev. Phil Cropper officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Garden of Memories.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour on Monday.
